Dress up a staple item for your closet, the plain white tee, with some accessories and clothing items that can turn your outfit from bland to pa-zam! Here are some of favorite pieces to accessorized the plain white tee just in time for back to school:

Denim Vest: I love denim vest because it gives such a chill, relaxed feel. When paired with denim jeans it brings back the era of greasers and denim on denim. Denim vest can paired scarves too that is perfect for football games, tailgating, etc.

Faux Fur Vest: Fur vest are perfect with cigarette pants and ankle booties. This stand out vest is perfect to keep warm while looking glam.

Faux Leather Motor Vest: This type of vest is perfect for a biker, edgy look. Pair with combat books or tone it down with some heels.

High waisted shorts: These are perfect with a plain white tee because it gives an effortless hip and chill still. High waisted shorts are currently in trend. Bonus if they are colored and more bonus if they are patterned because the white will help let the shorts stand out.

High waisted skirts: Same as the shorts but gives a quirky and girly look!

High-low skirts: These trendy skirts add that goddess flow that shows leg while keeping in the school code.

Maxi skirts: Since wearing bustier with these are prohibited in school dress codes (middle school & high school). Wearing a plain white tee will not only keep to the code, but also give that relax, effortless, chill feel!

Layered Necklaces: Perfect to cover up the single color and give it a pop!

Statement Necklaces: Same thing as the layered but more simpler while giving a statement in your outfit.

Scarves: My pick is the infinity scarf because they are not much of a hassle with the tassels being uneven and such, so infinity scarves are fuss free. Also, scarves can give your outfits variety with varying patterns and can be layered to be dressed up or down.

Back to School : Agendas

Back to School : Agendas

2013/2014 AT-A-GLANCE® Academic Hollyhock Weekly/Monthly Appointment...

My favorite thing about going back to school are the agendas! I just love writing, highlighting, color coding or doodling in it! Agendas are the perfect way to stay organized during the school year and are highly recommended. Here are some of my favorite agendas:

Kate Spade 17- month agenda ($36.00) : hard cover, cute design, monthly calendar, celebration section, elastic for closure, interior pockets, and tabs. However the writing space isn't that much. Also, this agenda is bit on the pricey side.

Lilly Pulitzer Jumbo Agenda ($34.00) : hard cover, 17 month agenda, again cute design, monthly calendar, sticker sheet, pocket folder, and tabs. This jumbo agenda is perfect for people who write a lot in their agenda and need more writing space!

Vera Bradley Student Agenda ($18.00) : 20 months agenda, pockets, stickers, schedules, fun holidays and conversion tables, note area, flexible cover, elastic band closure, tab,  and cute patterned design.

Artist Circle Daily Agenda at Sakroots ($20.00) : Nature feel, address book, notebook,  hard cover, 17 months, elastic closure, and stickers. However again not enough lines for detailed notes.

Horseshoe Academic Planner from Amazon ($20.00) : three year snapshot view, note pages, special days, future planning, telephone/address section, hard cover, and 100% recycled paper. However, the inside isn't as pretty as the other planners, and there is no tabs with the months on there. I like the exterior though. So cute!

At-A-Glance Academic Planner ($17.99) : 12 months, past and future months reference, holiday listings, 3 year overview calendars, event calendar, contacts, notes, tabs, and more writing room. This planner company was what I used in the past and absolutely loved them. Their tabs are laminated for they won't rip and they have cute interior design.

Some places to shop for inexpensive academic agendas:
Target (cute planners there! and moderate price)
Walmart (cheap, good quality, adorable planners there! both small and large)
Staples/Office Depot (a bit  pricey, but good quality planners..dupes found at Walmart)
Barnes & Nobles (last I check, they had a table full of planners)

How to make your own agenda:
1 journal, small notebook, notebook, etc.
pens

Write the date on the lines of your notebook or journal, and write the subjects and homework there. That simple!

Making your own journal allows you to customize, have as much room as you want and doesn't constrict you in fitting stuff in certain area! This can also act as an "extension" planner for those that doesn't have much lines to write details about assignment, appointments, etc.

Maroon is my pick for this year's fall "it" color. This color is the perfect for accessorizing in the fall season because of its richness, warm and sultry look it gives. Recently I purchased a YSL lipstick in this maroon color and I love the richness and look it gave me and is perfect for the fall season and/or special events such as black tie to help give your look a bit something extra. Maroon is perfect for making it an accent piece whether it is paired with black for the grungy punk rebel feel or white or even gold. For me, maroon shouldn't be the main color, but something as an accent color that just pops. So here are some of my favorite maroon picks for fall:

Oxfords:  These maroon shoes are perfect for the fall masculine/feminine style. They are perfect shoes to go with jeans, your dark blue blazer and collared shirt for the preppy field, but also work as your statement fall shoes without going into your heels and freezing while walking across campus or the mall.

Wristlet/purses: Recently I bought this mini patent maroon satchel from COACH and loved the color that the maroon purse gives to an outfit for the fall time. I just love the richness in color and how it just screams fall. This wristlet by Michael Kors is perfect with the gold accents that can just add to an outfit that doesn't necessarily require a purse. Perfect for those football games, night out with the girls, or even date night.

Scarves&Hats: This combination of a beanie and infinity scarf in maroon is perfect for fall paired with a trench coat because it let you keep warm and gives you a pop of color in a monochrome colored coat. Mittens in maroon would be a plus too because now you have a set!

Lipsticks: As I said about my YSL lipstick, fall time is perfect to bring out the rich, deep color without looking too gothic, and pair this deep color with a lighter eye makeup for minimal gothic look and more lip popping color. However for more of an evening wear you can do a smokey eye paired with deep red lips for a sexy, sultry look.

Nail polish: Maroon nails are your fall red color because the typical red nail polish we use can sometime scream cougar but this deep red is perfect to go with any outfit for the fall time without having part of you stuck in summer fever.

Denim: Denim jeans in this maroon is perfect for the fall season and can be paired with a chiffon high low cream collared shirt and gold accents or a cute cable knit sweater. Treat these like any of your denim!

Update Your Wardrobe

Update Your Wardrobe

This is perfect for you back to school-ers! Here is some tips to update your wardrobe to help you stand out amongst the crowd!

Plain White T- shirt to Patterned T-Shirt: Okay plain white tees are a staple for our closet due to its versatility and being an american classic, but it is a classic because it has become a uniform for us. However by upgrading to a patterned tee, you still have your good 'ol tee shirt, but in a more fashionable feel that makes you look like you put in a lot of effort when you really didn't. Also, a patterned tee can work like the plain white tee except it gives more patterns and looks more dressed up than does the plain white tee. Plus you can also dress up or down this tee giving it texture and depth to your outfit.

Jeans to Patterned Jeans: Yes, jeans are too another staple and classic in our wardrobe, but now there are such things like patterned jeans and colored jeans that are coming into the spotlight. These patterned jeans give can again help effortlessly dress up an outfit is perfect for your daily back to school wardrobe. Though I love my jeans to death, I will opt for patterned jeans when I want to look more put together.

Sneakers to Oxfords: Oxfords are such a preppy way to help an outfit. These men inspired shoes are a great substitute for your sneakers. They act like sneakers, but are more fashionable and versatile than sneakers. These bad boys have made it into my wardrobe last year and I haven't been able to stop wearing them because they are really comfy and add that touch of preppy masculinity to my outfit.

Update with Me

Long time no talk.

I have taken a break this summer from blogging because I was very very busy with graduating high school, graduation parties after parties, flying out of the country for 1.5 months and now coming back and preparing for my first year in college. So what is new with me?

Well for the past month and a half I was in the Eastern hemisphere vacationing in China on a Shanghai tour with my family and then flying to Malaysia to visit my extended family on both side. It was so nice because we haven't seen them in 5 years! I could say that I have gained a few extra pounds on that trip and now have to work on losing them in time for college (I'm saving my freshman 15). But again was so nice to see them that I wish that we lived so close to each other rather than 20 hours away :(

Right now I am recovering from jet lag and packing everything into boxes to take up with me to college. The toughest part for me...packing my clothes, accessories and shoes. I just want to take everything with me but my closet doesn't seem to agree.

So just wanted to say that I am still alive and will try to blog during the chaos.
