Summer Beauty Switches

Summer is official on its way. This means change in the outfits we wear, the drink we choose at our local coffee shop, and even the make up we wear. These are 3 simple, basic switches for the summer season!

1. Lipstick to tinted lip balm - Lipsticks are forever; however, for the effortless summer, natural summer makeup. Tinted lip balm will not feel as heavy on the lips and will not only moisturize and protect your lips from the sun. It will also give a tint of color that would look natural and effortless.

2. Foundation to tinted moisturizer - This is a given and said many times. Foundation during the summer feels thick and greasy, but tinted moisturizer will not only cover up the imperfections on the face while feeling invisible on the face. Also, it has SPF that will protect the face from the sun.

3. Eyeliner to mascara - I am a huge fan of eyeliner, but during the summer the eyeliner on the eyes can look harsh, heavy, and unnatural. So for a natural look while still drawing attention to the eyes is a eyelash curler and mascara. Curling the lashes and adding volume can give your eyes an effortless, natural look while highlighting it as well! Make sure you choose waterproof mascara if you are heading to the beach or a pool party.

When attending a graduation party, the setting can vary between outdoor barbecues or banquet halls between formal wear or casual wear. Either way graduation parties are the last hoorah of our high school years, before we take the next big step to college. Whether you are outdoor around a bonfire reflecting on now old high school memories or indoors toasting to college, you want to feel comfortable for whatever might appear and a stunner.
A romper in my opinion is the perfect article of clothing for this occasion. It more comfortable and flexible to move around than jeans or jean shorts. It is simple and fashionable because it is a one piece outfit so it does not require you to worry about your top falling off while you are enjoying the outdoors. Also a romper is a versatile article of clothing which can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Pair a romper with:

1. A Crochet Cardigan: For those warm summer evenings, a crochet cardigan not only gives your skin extra protection from sun and insects but also showcase the romper. Also gives the outfit a bohemian feel that is perfect for an outdoor setting. This outfit is also perfect for wearing over a swimsuit and paired with sandals.

2. A Cable Knit Sweater: A cable knit sweater is perfect for a chilly graduation party. A solid color cable knit sweater contrast well with a pattern romper to give the effect of fun patterned shorts. This outfit is semi-casual and is perfect for both outdoor and indoor graduation events.

3. A Maxi-Skirt: A maxi-skirt is perfect to pair with a romper for those more formal graduation events. Just slip a maxi skirt on and you are good to go for the day. Do not worry about flashing your underwear because your romper with cover it up for you!

Have fun and enjoy the last scents of high school

Here is my opinion on what should be in your pencil pouch so you will be prepared for school and won't be the one snooping for supplies from your peers!

1. Pencils: The obvious essential for school! Either mechanical or wooden barrel works. Just remember if you have mechanical pencils to keep lead in your pouch so you won't be asking for lead (I remember doing that...I kinda annoyed people with that)! For wooden barrel I would keep a small pencil sharpener in your pouch so you won't have to get up in the middle of class and squeak sharpen. Plus school sharpeners don't sharpen pencils, they eat them.

2. Pens: Another obvious essential. Blue and black ink is basically a necessity for school. I like getting cute, fun pens because they make me happy to use them and keep my motivated (lame I know).

3. No. 2 Pencils: Taking a test on a scan tron? ACT? Did you forget that you had a test and now scrambling for a No. 2 pencil? Yep I know that feeling. So keeping at least one or two No. 2 pencils will ensure minimal stress when test day comes around. Also, I know that some "No. 2 pencils" do not work on scan trons so keeping the original (Ticonderoga) would be good.

4. Sticky notes/Tabs: Perfect for quick notes, marking important pages and etc. Plus cute ones make it fun to study or remember.

5. White out: For those days when we make mistakes. I know I make a ton of them because I use pens a lot and yep white out is my savior. Liquid or tape is fine. I prefer tape because I don't have to wait for the liquid to dry.

6. Highlighters: I live for highlighters! They help me keep organize in my notes, planner and calendar! They are great study tools and getting many colors can keep you organized!

7. Paper clips: I think these are perfect for organization too with homework and notes! Keep these in handy when you might need a little organization during class! For maximum organization, colored ones are perfect!

8. Colored pens: Okay these are as important for your pencil pouch, but for me they are. I just love colors so these help me study and keep me motivated. They also help me stay organized because I can just assign a color to a certain subject or topic.

Going back to school we want to change, to be a better person and what do we turn to when we want to change and look different...MAKEUP! I remember being a newbie in the makeup department just a year or two ago. I remember feeling lost on what products are good for my makeup free face and won't harm my skin while enhancing it not turning me into a clown. These are my opinions on what beginner makeup user should use that are also inexpensive and drug store products:

BB Cream: Perfect light wear cream that also covers your face like a foundation without giving you that cake-y feeling. Not only does it smooth out your skin tone and gives light coverage, it also moisturize and fight against acne! This product is perfect as a stepping stone for those whose skin isn't ready to handle foundation because foundation is known for heavier coverage which means heavy leading to acne forming and closed pores.
All you do is take a dollop into your fingers and dot your face and just spread the bb cream all your face and neck area.
I highly recommend the Maybelline BB cream because it doesn't break me out and gives me a smooth complexion that I don't feel!

Face Powder: This is a necessity for gym class or oily skin types. Face powder absorbs the oils  from sweating on your face giving you an anti shine look!
Face powder should be used after BB cream and concealer using a huge fluffy brush (powder brush) or the given pad. Just get some powder from your compact onto your brush and tap and then just dust your face and neck. Go over the areas more prone to oil a couple of times to ensure a shine free look!
The L'Oreal True Match face powder is perfect for on the go because of its compact size and really helps ensure an oil free face that doesn't dry your skin out.

Concealer: Concealer is a HUGE must have! This can work your BB cream if your don't have  or need BB cream or foundation to cover your face. Concealer just conceals acne, scars or anything you don't want the world to see. Especially those panda eyes we have after staying up all night studying, partying, or doing nothing...Perfect for minimal makeup wearers too because they help enhance your face by giving you a flawless face!
Use your fourth finger while applying concealer on the under eye area because the tissue there is very soft and sensitive. Also use to cover area by just rubbing the concealer in until the area isn't visible anymore.
Though the M-A-C concealer is on the high end side, it has good reason to. This concealer is amazing at concealing the dark circles, acne, acne scars, etc. and not rubbing off throughout the day! Just apply it and finish with powder to give a matte and long lasting look!
For a more inexpensive concealer, a dupe for this M-A-C would have to be the essence concealer stick.

Eye Primer: Eye primer is a must have for helping your eye shadow stay on all day long. Plus they are skin toned so they will act a little bit like concealer to conceal under eyes or redness.
Use the wand and dot your lid and under eye and then using your fourth finger blend the eye primer in until the dark circles or redness has disappeared.
My favorite is the Elf eye primer because not only is it very inexpensive ($1.00), it is the dupe for the Urban Decay famous eye primer. I love using the wand and it keeps my eyeshadow sittin' pretty all day long!

Eyeshadow Quad: Let me tell you, I am not the best at applying eye shadow especially since I really don't have a huge eye lid like some of the blessed people have. So using an eye shadow quad is perfect for beginners because they usually come with instructions that will instruct you on how to apply your eyeshadow so you won't look like a newbie when walking into school. Also a neutral color combination is perfect for school and everyday wear for beginners and others because they are not too dominant that it could terrify people on the first day and if you mess up it wouldn't be too noticeable. The neutral colors will just enhance your eyes and the natural beauty in it!
My ultimate favorite would have to be the Maybelline Quads because they are so pigments and the neutral palette (Mocha Motion!!!) has amazing colors that don't make my eyes look to crazy but just add that glimmer. Also, the dark eye shadow can double as eye brow powder and liner! (Just use an angled brush!)

Lip Butter: Lip butter doesn't only act as a lip balm, but it also is a lipstick and gloss all in one tube! This is perfect for beginners because it has all the lip products in one. Lip butters gives lips the same color and shine as a lipgloss and lipstick, but moisturize lips so they won't crack after a long period of lipstick and gloss wearing. Perfect for days when you are rushing out the door and don't have much time to do your makeup.
My favorite are the Color Whispers by Maybelline because they add that color to make my lips stand out while moisturizing them too!

Blush: Blush brings out the rosy cheeks in you. These can give you color and add that healthy, natural glow! Looking alive, not dead.
Again my favorite is from Maybelline and it is their Dream Bouncy Blush because of their pigmentation and just the cool bouncy-ness of the blush! Just swipe and blend into your apples of your cheeks!

Mascara: Mascara helps short lash people like me get long, voluminous lashes. For those of you who have thick voluminous lashes (jealous) mascara will just enhance your lashes giving them more volume.
My favorite is the recent Maybelline Big Eyes mascara. Not only do you get mascara to help your upper lashes, you also get mascara for your bottom lashes. Bam 2 for 1!! Wonderful for beginners and on the go gals!

Dress up a staple item for your closet, the plain white tee, with some accessories and clothing items that can turn your outfit from bland to pa-zam! Here are some of favorite pieces to accessorized the plain white tee just in time for back to school:

Denim Vest: I love denim vest because it gives such a chill, relaxed feel. When paired with denim jeans it brings back the era of greasers and denim on denim. Denim vest can paired scarves too that is perfect for football games, tailgating, etc.

Faux Fur Vest: Fur vest are perfect with cigarette pants and ankle booties. This stand out vest is perfect to keep warm while looking glam.

Faux Leather Motor Vest: This type of vest is perfect for a biker, edgy look. Pair with combat books or tone it down with some heels.

High waisted shorts: These are perfect with a plain white tee because it gives an effortless hip and chill still. High waisted shorts are currently in trend. Bonus if they are colored and more bonus if they are patterned because the white will help let the shorts stand out.

High waisted skirts: Same as the shorts but gives a quirky and girly look!

High-low skirts: These trendy skirts add that goddess flow that shows leg while keeping in the school code.

Maxi skirts: Since wearing bustier with these are prohibited in school dress codes (middle school & high school). Wearing a plain white tee will not only keep to the code, but also give that relax, effortless, chill feel!

Layered Necklaces: Perfect to cover up the single color and give it a pop!

Statement Necklaces: Same thing as the layered but more simpler while giving a statement in your outfit.

Scarves: My pick is the infinity scarf because they are not much of a hassle with the tassels being uneven and such, so infinity scarves are fuss free. Also, scarves can give your outfits variety with varying patterns and can be layered to be dressed up or down.

Back to School : Agendas

Back to School : Agendas

2013/2014 AT-A-GLANCE® Academic Hollyhock Weekly/Monthly Appointment...
staples.com

My favorite thing about going back to school are the agendas! I just love writing, highlighting, color coding or doodling in it! Agendas are the perfect way to stay organized during the school year and are highly recommended. Here are some of my favorite agendas:

Kate Spade 17- month agenda ($36.00) : hard cover, cute design, monthly calendar, celebration section, elastic for closure, interior pockets, and tabs. However the writing space isn't that much. Also, this agenda is bit on the pricey side.

Lilly Pulitzer Jumbo Agenda ($34.00) : hard cover, 17 month agenda, again cute design, monthly calendar, sticker sheet, pocket folder, and tabs. This jumbo agenda is perfect for people who write a lot in their agenda and need more writing space!

Vera Bradley Student Agenda ($18.00) : 20 months agenda, pockets, stickers, schedules, fun holidays and conversion tables, note area, flexible cover, elastic band closure, tab,  and cute patterned design.

Artist Circle Daily Agenda at Sakroots ($20.00) : Nature feel, address book, notebook,  hard cover, 17 months, elastic closure, and stickers. However again not enough lines for detailed notes.

Horseshoe Academic Planner from Amazon ($20.00) : three year snapshot view, note pages, special days, future planning, telephone/address section, hard cover, and 100% recycled paper. However, the inside isn't as pretty as the other planners, and there is no tabs with the months on there. I like the exterior though. So cute!

At-A-Glance Academic Planner ($17.99) : 12 months, past and future months reference, holiday listings, 3 year overview calendars, event calendar, contacts, notes, tabs, and more writing room. This planner company was what I used in the past and absolutely loved them. Their tabs are laminated for they won't rip and they have cute interior design.

Some places to shop for inexpensive academic agendas:
Target (cute planners there! and moderate price)
Walmart (cheap, good quality, adorable planners there! both small and large)
Staples/Office Depot (a bit  pricey, but good quality planners..dupes found at Walmart)
Barnes & Nobles (last I check, they had a table full of planners)

How to make your own agenda:
1 journal, small notebook, notebook, etc.
pens

Write the date on the lines of your notebook or journal, and write the subjects and homework there. That simple!

Making your own journal allows you to customize, have as much room as you want and doesn't constrict you in fitting stuff in certain area! This can also act as an "extension" planner for those that doesn't have much lines to write details about assignment, appointments, etc.
