Getting Fit this 2013 Part 2: The Motivation

So my plan may seem scary and I admit I don't I can' t follow it everyday because it is a huge change especially if you aren't an exercise person, but here is some motivation that I found that could act as motivation. Here are some images to get you motivated and ready (:

1. Zombies Run! (App for $3.99 on iTunes)

This is a good motivator if you are running outdoor because well if is an app about you running from Zombies like literally there is noise, narration and everything, and this doesn't get you running from them then I don't know what will (have a legit lion run behind you...jk) I'm planning on buying this in the spring/summer when it is sunny outdoors and use it for those lazy, not feel like running days. Its gonna get your heart pumping.

2. Incentives:
If you are the type of person that needs something to look forward then make it a goal that if you get fit or healthy that you will buy yourself a new bikini that you have been eyeing or book a vacation to the beach to show off that new body. Reward yourself like eating a piece of cake because we all still need that sweetness in our life.

3. Do it with a buddy:
Exercising with your best friend is the best motivator because you guys can go running together and keep each other in check and help each other loose that fat!

Motivation is key my honeybees so LETS DO IT!!!!

Getting Fit this 2013 Part 1: The Plan

One of my new year resolution for 2013 was to get fit, and lets say that I kinda have been slacking. I have decided to get my bits (not you know what (; ) together and man up to get fit for this summer before I go to college. Getting fit and healthy is something we should all strive for and I know it won't be easy because excercising is never easy but something we need to do if we want to have a good body and live a healthy life. So follow me and lets all get fit and healthy this 2013...and make all the boys come crawling (hehe).

My fitness plan:

1. Eat Healthy:
-NO food consumption after 7.00pm ~ not only will just give you unwanted fat during those late night when we have to do homework and start stress eating, but also it will slow down your metabolism. If you are stressed, drink a hot cup of tea or water because they warmness can help sooth your brain. Still stressed, take a walk or excercise.
               - Drink 6-8 cups of water a day ~ This will help eliminate bad breath, cleanse your skin, and all sort of good things for your body. What I do is bring 2 bottles of water with me to school because whenever I have a test, drinking water helps calm me down (weird huh). Also, during school or work is when we tend to not drink water because we don't have time or we lean towards the sugary drinks so one motivational tip is to put water in a cute water bottle that you would want to keep drinking out of because it will not only save the planet but help you get healthy! Adding lemon to water is healthy for you too but don't eat too much lemons because they can make your teeth very sensitive.
                - Limit them sugary drink ~ I'm a popaholic. I absolutely love drinking soda even though I know they are bad for me. So this year I am on rehab, absolutely no soda and pop. Soda and pop are really bad for you because so many chemicals are put into them that makes them unhealthy. Not to mention they will give you acne. True story, my godmother poured Sprite down the toilet and it cleaned her toilet bowl...ew..you don't want that in your body. So ditch the soda and go for something like green tea (which is good for you too!) or a fruit smoothie if you want something sugary.
                - Limit the processed food and go natural ~ they say the less ingredient on the back of food product, the healthier because that means that they have less chemicals in them. Don't resort to eating carbohydrate so much because they break down to glucose and eating way to much can cause diabetes. Balance your diet with a ton of leafy green and fruits. I know it sound unappetizing but I am serious processed food is usually a cause of obesity and other diseases. Leafy green and fruits give you vitamins that will help your skin, beauty and body!

2. Excercise:
             - Excercise Early ~ I read in Cosmo that excercising early will help you not only get you upin the morning but make you less likely to become lazy in the afternoon when you put it off. So, since I have school during the week and really don't want to excercise in the afternoon (who does), my plan is to:
5.00 am                 Run on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes
5.30 am                 Change/Get ready for school
6.00 am                 Breakfast and Finish up homework
I know this will be hard because who likes to wake up this early but really for any excercising you need to push yourself and make yourself get up and excercise because it will really pay off in the end. Also, excercising early can help get it out of the way so you won't have to worry the rest of the day.
             - SWEAT! ~ Yes, this sounds very unappealing, but my rule now is if you don't sweat, you ain't excercisng because yes they are some workout like targetting certain body parts that you don't sweat but are sweating internally meaning...pain in the body. So really if you ain't feeling the burn, you ain't pushing yourself hard enough. Mix up your workout by doing outdoor activity too like biking, hiking, swimming, etc. because sun gives vitamin D which is good for you too. Just make sure to slatter on the sunscreen.
             - Just keep moving ~ Movement everyday may seem like it isn't helping your body but it is because moving works your body fat so don't be a computer/couch potato...move every hour or so...it can just be taking a break and walking the around the house/office or go excercising. These are especially good breaks if you are stressed becasue they help work the stress out and keep you away from stress eating.

iBook vs. Your Local Library...The Dilemma

picture collage via picmonkey.com

Hello my chickadees! Do you love to read as much as I do? If you guys didn't see my blog post from a few days back, I am currently reading I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella, which is a stellar book so far (: I realized that it is a physical book and this got my into the dilemma what is better to read books on: my iPad with iBooks or even any devices capable of reading or hard copy, old fashion books. I have both and I really can't decide which I like better. With our world advancing into the modern technology era (have you heard in the news of all an all technology library...like where are the books), I feel like I don't want to loose the old fashion ways of reading a hard copy. You be the judge when you decide to invest in a device for reading.

iBooks - Reading Electronically : (Pros)
- Easy to take with you anywhere ( all your favorite books in one area )
- capable of highlighting, bookmarking and even looking up words right then and there
- Very light weighted, hence making it easier to transport
- (I think only iBook has this) ability to read sample of the book before purchasing
- (iffy pro) able to borrow books from the library on it to make it easier to cart around (iffy because I don't know if all library does this yet)

(Cons)
- books cost money and you can't borrow them
- need to take time to download them if you got them on the computer or else where
- skipping pages when reading is tedious (you gotta swipe or tap continuously)
- (so I heard) reading on electronic devices can strain your eyes
- expensive to buy the electronic reading device
- not all books are available electornically

Local Library - Reading Old Fashion: (Pros)
- wide variety of different books at your choosing
- FREE
- will not have to wait to download...grab and go
- if you don't like it, you can put it back and won't regret wasting money on it
- able to take it anywhere with you and can borrow as much as you want

(Cons)
- heavy...not easy for transportation
- can become ruined/bad condition
- Ability to lose pages or font is too small to read
- No capability to highlight, make notes (esp. if it is a library book), or instantly look up definitions/words

Read With Me: I've Got Your Number

I've Got Your Number
picture from goodread.com
I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
This book is the current book I am reading right now! I've been trying to limit the amount of book I borrow from the library as part of my new year resolution (4 is the maximum) and this author is one of my favorite (partially biased because I am in love with the movie, Confession of a Shopaholic and that book series). So, I have picked up this book at my local library and so far I totes <3 this book (; It is just like any of Sophie Kinsella's book, funny and sweet.

Description via goodread.com:
"Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life."

So if you love those cute heartfelt romantic comedy type of books, make sure you check this one out(: I'm currently starting Chapter 6 page 116 so catch up and lets discuss(: Oh be sure to check page 104...my favorite page of the book because of the humor....I literally LOL.

Random Daily Dosage: Golden Globes Awards

So tonight is the beginning of the 2013 award season and I must say, this year I am most excited for the Golden Globes and Oscars because they have movies that I actually know LOL.

I watched Les Miserable a couple of weeks ago and I must say that I am really pulling for them to win because Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway's performance was out of this world and the cast was just amazing. It was a tearfest I must say, but was a really good movie with all the singing (okay maybe the singing was a tad excessive). I hear all these prediction with Anne Hathaway winning her category, Best Supporting Actress, and I really hope she does, and I hope Les Mis will win its category. I also hope that Lincoln win too because though I didn't watch that movie and I want too, the actor playing Lincoln is amazing and even looks like him!

What I love about the Golden Globe is that is really highlights the achievement and effort all the actor puts in and I love the red carpet...those dresses!!!!

Wow this is really a random rabble, but I hope you will join me in watching tonights Golden Globes...you can take a break from studying for the midterms...I know I am (;

Who do you want to win?

LUSH Cosmetics: Each Peach (and Two's a Pair) Review

Each Peach (and Two's a Pair)

Description (from LUSH's website) : "Toning and Uplifting Citrus Massage Bar - Brighten, lighten and throw off the gloom with a concentrated citrus fix. We make our Each Peach massage bar with fruity avocado and mango kernel butters, and mix them with our cocoa butter and shea butter base for an extra nutritious, skin softening treat. Each Peach is super emollient and moisturizing for the skin; but it also gives a good glide when it is being worked over and massaged into the body. Customers have fallen in love with this peachy massage and it’s a best seller all year long – it’s not hard to see why."

Price : $10.95

Review: (8 out of 10) This massage bar has a wonderful smell and really moisturize the skin in the shower. It feels deceiving when I first used it because I had this soapy feel left and I thought that it needed to come off however that feeling is the feeling of the massage bar's moisturizing the skin, and it really does help my dry skin. However to keep your skin moisturize, you need to keep using it everyday in the shower and it takes a lot out of the product. It is easy to work with and stays true to gliding very easily and the smell instantly soothes me in the shower. It doesn't break you out in rashes or anything with the fragrance and is does help moisturize my skin when I don't want to apply lotion on it. But, I wouldn't pay $10.95 for it because it is on the pricey side for a small bar of soap, but I really do enjoy it (:

Tackle those Midterm Woes

It that week again....midterms *cue the dun dun dunnn*. Here are some tips to tackle those deathly midterms. Sorry the pictures are not align, I know it bugs me too :/

1. Make Notecards - if you have standards like IB does or just general topics that will be tested then notecards can help you with studying because they organize the topics and are convenient to take around with you to study. If you are getting tested in vocabulary, then notecards are fabulous and are usually recommended to use for vocabulary because you can quiz yourself or take it on the go!

2. Make Study guides - this is good if you have some time before your midterm for a certain subject and if you know what chapters are going to be tested. Making study guides are like making a condense version of all your notes and what you have learned into a packet where you can study everything you need to know. Plus, you can put diagrams from the textbook into it like in my biology study guide so you can visual see things if you are a visual learner like me. Also, it is good to t4 or highlight the information on the study guide to help better your understanding even more. If you have an iPhone/iPod/iPad, then get the app, Evernote, because you can put in you teacher's ppt or notes and study on the go and it is all in one place!!!!

3. Re read those Notes/Lecture Notes & T4 - if you didn't get a midterm review guide like me for biology :/ then re reading your notes and lecture notes are your best bet to study for the midterm. Likely the teacher will put materials that you learned about and lectured on. So, t4ing or highlighting are great refreshers for studying because by T4ing you will more pay attention to the information instead of glancing over. Don't have the lecture notes or still don't understand a concept, look it up online because they are people out there that teach these things better and it will help you learn and understand. Some sites include khanacademy.org

4. Don't stress eat! - Midterms are stressful and stress eating will not help and just will break you out or put a few pounds on you, so instead when you are stressed out take a breather and put down the textbook and walk around for a few minutes, take a shower/bubble bath, watch some funny youtube videos, or drink warm water/tea/coffee to help sooth you brain. This will make you feel rejuvenated and motivated to study again. I find also despite many things against it that listening to your favorite music will help you power through the large amount of informations you need to learn again.

5. Practice Practice Practice and Repeat - Especially in math or chemistry, doing practice problems will help because they will allow you to practice the materials you have learned. Also, they say practice makes perfect so you can refresh you math skills with practice problems and apply what you have learned because they for sure will be on the midterm. Also, for languages like mandarin re write characters are a good way to ingrain them in your brains, and this can be applied to memorization of materials. Repeat them over and say them out loud because then you will hear it and absorb it instead of re reading in your head.

6. Drink tons of water - I know this sounds like a tip for good skin or exercising but really it help! I find that when I take a test or studying, drinking water help me focus better and keeps me motivated. You don't want to be dehydrated and not be able to focus so drink some H20 and not soda or sugary drinks because sure they will give you the buzz but after you will feel brain dead. Thats why I don't recommend coffee beforehand if you have a long day of midterms because you are bound to crash.

7. Sleep! - I know I break this rule way to much for test, but seriously SLEEP! If you really are desperate for study time, then way up a little bit early because your mind will be refreshed instead of staying up late and feeling tired because your brain will not absorb anything and you will just be hurting yourself.

Be confident! YOU CAN DO THIS! No matter what happens just know you have tried your best (:

Oh, don't cheat because you won't be helping yourself (:

Random Daily Dosage: Performing Miracles

forevergina.blogspot,com
That is me....
Picture from here
Hello! So this blog post will be very short and sweet because I can't waste any time if I am to perform a miracle tonight. So, being my procrastinating self ( I swear. I am trying to improve; it is one of my new year resolution!) I didn't finish my Biology Internal Assessment nor my Chemistry Internal Assessment nor did me, B, and S finish our TOK presentation. This is all due tomorrow and we are presenting on Tuesday....I am doomed. First, I didn't even start Chemistry yet and I still need to make notecards and make sure my slides for my part of the presentation, perception, is correct and will get me a good grade. UGHHH! These are the nights were I am like OMG why, but it is partly my fault and I will be celebrating when I do finish(: Well wish me luck...because I am going to up all night and it will be a miracle if I actually get to sleep early.

x o x o

***UPDATE: So, I did end up finishing both IA's at 3.00 am and presented my TOK presentation on Tuesday. It was scary going first but we did fine and talked really fast. (:
