iBook vs. Your Local Library...The Dilemma

picture collage via picmonkey.com

Hello my chickadees! Do you love to read as much as I do? If you guys didn't see my blog post from a few days back, I am currently reading I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella, which is a stellar book so far (: I realized that it is a physical book and this got my into the dilemma what is better to read books on: my iPad with iBooks or even any devices capable of reading or hard copy, old fashion books. I have both and I really can't decide which I like better. With our world advancing into the modern technology era (have you heard in the news of all an all technology library...like where are the books), I feel like I don't want to loose the old fashion ways of reading a hard copy. You be the judge when you decide to invest in a device for reading.

iBooks - Reading Electronically : (Pros)
- Easy to take with you anywhere ( all your favorite books in one area )
- capable of highlighting, bookmarking and even looking up words right then and there
- Very light weighted, hence making it easier to transport
- (I think only iBook has this) ability to read sample of the book before purchasing
- (iffy pro) able to borrow books from the library on it to make it easier to cart around (iffy because I don't know if all library does this yet)

(Cons)
- books cost money and you can't borrow them
- need to take time to download them if you got them on the computer or else where
- skipping pages when reading is tedious (you gotta swipe or tap continuously)
- (so I heard) reading on electronic devices can strain your eyes
- expensive to buy the electronic reading device
- not all books are available electornically

Local Library - Reading Old Fashion: (Pros)
- wide variety of different books at your choosing
- FREE
- will not have to wait to download...grab and go
- if you don't like it, you can put it back and won't regret wasting money on it
- able to take it anywhere with you and can borrow as much as you want

(Cons)
- heavy...not easy for transportation
- can become ruined/bad condition
- Ability to lose pages or font is too small to read
- No capability to highlight, make notes (esp. if it is a library book), or instantly look up definitions/words
