Summer Beauty Switches

Summer is official on its way. This means change in the outfits we wear, the drink we choose at our local coffee shop, and even the make up we wear. These are 3 simple, basic switches for the summer season!

1. Lipstick to tinted lip balm - Lipsticks are forever; however, for the effortless summer, natural summer makeup. Tinted lip balm will not feel as heavy on the lips and will not only moisturize and protect your lips from the sun. It will also give a tint of color that would look natural and effortless.

2. Foundation to tinted moisturizer - This is a given and said many times. Foundation during the summer feels thick and greasy, but tinted moisturizer will not only cover up the imperfections on the face while feeling invisible on the face. Also, it has SPF that will protect the face from the sun.

3. Eyeliner to mascara - I am a huge fan of eyeliner, but during the summer the eyeliner on the eyes can look harsh, heavy, and unnatural. So for a natural look while still drawing attention to the eyes is a eyelash curler and mascara. Curling the lashes and adding volume can give your eyes an effortless, natural look while highlighting it as well! Make sure you choose waterproof mascara if you are heading to the beach or a pool party.

Summer of Freshmen/Sophomore Year To Do

Currently this is the second month of my summer vacation with the first year of college under my belt and this break has allow me to prepare myself for another challenging semester of a pre med student. So I am sharing with all you what I am doing this summer that will help prepare you for the upcoming semester and to progress into a potential pre-med candidate.

1. Preparing for Organic Chemistry - according to my pre-medical advisor Organic Chemistry is a course taken during Sophomore year of college, and it is known by college students as a very tough course. My advisor told me that average time spent with Organic Chemistry is about 30 hours per week! The textbook the course is using is Organic Chemistry 7th edition by John McMurry. The professor suggested that we should review chapter 1 through 3 and if we are feeling ambitious go up until chapter 5, and work through all the problems in the textbook. Whenever a professor suggest something,  I think they are actually saying "you should do this if you want to succeed". So I am throughout this summer slowly going through chapter 1-5 making sure I understand the concept taught so during the semester I will not be overwhelmed. Below are some links to aid in preparing for Organic Chemistry:

2. Preparing for Introduction to Statistic & Introduction to Sociology - what I have learned these two semester of freshman year is that not to take my 4 credit classes for granted. These 4 credit classes have a huge impact on your GPA. So I have learned to prepare for the worst and hope the best. So preparation is really important to me so with everything going on this semester I will be able handle it with ease and stress free. For introduction to statistic, I am using AP Statistic preparation guides from Barron's. For Introduction to Sociology, I am looking at these links:

3. Volunteering - During the summer, it is a great opportunity to shadow doctors and volunteer in hospital, free public health clinics, or even doctors' offices. Volunteering in the potential career field you are looking into going to during the summer would look wonderful on a application because during the school year it is difficult because there is so much going on from school work to extracurricular. I am looking into volunteering at a hospital, free public health clinic, and a private practice. So fingers cross that I will be able to do that this summer.

4. ENJOY! - This to me is very important because we have just went through a semester of hard work due to the path we choose to take. This summer is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends, new friends, family, and yourself. I find it wonderful to take time to myself by exercising, picking up a hobby I couldn't do during college such as pleasure reading or learning yoga. It is a perfect time to refresh, reboost, and relax before another chaotic year of pre-med life.

Currently In Style & Lusting

Lately this spring and summer season I have been noticing that kimono jacket have been currently the "it" article of clothing and I have to agree. A kimono jacket is described as a loose, chiffon jacket that is very light and known to lean towards the bohemian feel.  It is perfect for the spring and summer season because it is not knitted or cotton that would be too warm during the warm weather. I have seen them in various store and have been trying to get my hands on a jacket myself because I love first I love chiffon and second it is a perfect jacket that is perfect for the weather and is still stylish. Kimono jackets are hot, hot, hot! Below are some beautiful kimono jackets at retail stores that are affordable and fashionable!

Graduation Party DIY Decoration

I know graduation party can become costly so to help lessen the cost, here are some quick, simple and cheap decoration ideas. Use the extra money and splurge on that cotton candy machine or hottest D.J in your area!

1. Tissue paper tassel garland:
Perfect festive decoration that helps accent your party and can be taken as a memento and used to decorate your dorm room the upcoming fall.

2. Memory Board:
A perfect way to showcase all your pictures from birth up until the final days of high school.                   Again another perfect keepsake to bring to college.

3. Graduation cap centerpiece:
Perfect decoration that are easy to make and can hold on its own when the wind decide to stop by. Just paint a desired sized flower pot and a square cardboard box and then attach strings or yarns             around a button attached to the cardboard. Then voila a centerpiece is made. Flourish and add to             the centerpiece as desired.

When attending a graduation party, the setting can vary between outdoor barbecues or banquet halls between formal wear or casual wear. Either way graduation parties are the last hoorah of our high school years, before we take the next big step to college. Whether you are outdoor around a bonfire reflecting on now old high school memories or indoors toasting to college, you want to feel comfortable for whatever might appear and a stunner.
A romper in my opinion is the perfect article of clothing for this occasion. It more comfortable and flexible to move around than jeans or jean shorts. It is simple and fashionable because it is a one piece outfit so it does not require you to worry about your top falling off while you are enjoying the outdoors. Also a romper is a versatile article of clothing which can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Pair a romper with:

1. A Crochet Cardigan: For those warm summer evenings, a crochet cardigan not only gives your skin extra protection from sun and insects but also showcase the romper. Also gives the outfit a bohemian feel that is perfect for an outdoor setting. This outfit is also perfect for wearing over a swimsuit and paired with sandals.

2. A Cable Knit Sweater: A cable knit sweater is perfect for a chilly graduation party. A solid color cable knit sweater contrast well with a pattern romper to give the effect of fun patterned shorts. This outfit is semi-casual and is perfect for both outdoor and indoor graduation events.

3. A Maxi-Skirt: A maxi-skirt is perfect to pair with a romper for those more formal graduation events. Just slip a maxi skirt on and you are good to go for the day. Do not worry about flashing your underwear because your romper with cover it up for you!

Have fun and enjoy the last scents of high school
