This is My Jam: Les Miserable Soundtrack

OMG a while back I watched Les Miserable and it was such a good movie with a bunch of tears. To be honest, I wasn't such a huge fan after watching the movie because of the huge amount of singing, but after listening to the soundtrack on Spotify, I begin to love the movie more and more. The singing is amazing and so heartfelt and not to mention addicting!

Read With Me: The Casual Vacancy

picture from: goodread.com
The Casual Vacancy by J.K Rowling
This book is something that I wanted to read because I love the Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling and let me say that I really do have high expectations for this book because of the amazing job she did on Harry Potter. I know this is an adult book, but I hopeful that it will be just as good. I currently 37 pages into the book and it reminds me like the movies Valentine's Day and New Year Eve with all these mini stories that interact with each other.

Description via Goodreads:
"A BIG NOVEL ABOUT A SMALL TOWN ...

When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils ... Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?"
Also this is goodreads choice 2012 winner....hmmm that says something(:

Happy reading and Happy midwinter breakkk!

Mani Monday: Valentine Day's Nail

forevergina.blogspot.com
Essie: We're in it Together | Pure Ice: Lilac Mist
Love My Nails: Pretty in Pink

Though Valentine Day is coming up this Thursday (<3), I've to do my nails in the spirit of the Love Day or Forever Alone Day (:P). So what I did was using the Essie, We're in it Together, from their breast cancer collection to use as a base color. I love the soft, blush pink color that doesn't scream sex monkey or bold, but something soft and romantic like Valentine should be (in contrary to the seduction red color which is okay with me if you are planning on  wooing your lover).

Then, using Pure Ice (a brand from Walmart, which has amazing colors!) as a top coat because it is the same color as the Essie but has shimmer so when you put it on top it gives the Essie a shimmer looking like mermaid nails! This will enhance the blush pink making it look princess-y and helps enhance an outfit if you wanted to add a little bold statement (:

Finally using the Love My Nails overcoat on my 4th finger because 1) its a huge nail trend and 2) putting it all on my nails would go overboard...you don't want to scare the guy with your over the top nails. Because this overcoat is huge sequins, you have to make sure you actually get a few on your nails. Also, it would look cool to try to get them towards the tips as a manicure. This will help glamorize your nails giving it a little umph that could make a good eye catcher!

These nails are not only constraint to Valentine's Day only but for homecoming or prom because they are those glamorizing, inexpensive, and simple manicures that you can do to save money while still have a gorgeous manicure!!!!

Book Review: I've Got Your Number

I've finish this book for some time, but I must say this is a cute, chick lit! This is great for your comedy lovers with a hint of romantic twist! Sophie Kinsella is such an amazing author with her witty, humor within the protagonist, Poppy! She reminds me so much of Becky from Confession of a Shopaholic! Though the romance is very surface level and through cell phone, but trust me, you will fall head first for this humor wit of Poppy mixed with the typical, serious businessmen of Sam who too reminds me of Brandon from the Confession of the Shopaholic series.

Out of 10: 9/10 (I prefer a little more romance ;))

Happy Valentine's Day

Give Your Nails A Break!

picture from : febstore.com
So today I was going to paint my nails in the spirit of Chinese New Year tomorrow, but after removing my nail polish I realized that my nails were peeling and becoming brittle. I was very alarmed, so here are some tips and trick for having brittle, peeling nails like me (:|)

Livestrong stated that the cause of these brittle, peeling nails are due to excessive use of acetone based nail polish remover (guilty of doing this) or excessive washing and drying such as doing the dishes. Some solution is to switch to a nail polish remover without acetone and wear gloves or GIVE YOUR NAILS A BREAK FROM NAIL POLISH! This is what I am doing because using this is making my nails very weak and prone to peeling and can cause very ugly looking nails in the future. So give your nails a break though I know it will look ugly in the beginning, but trust me it is worth it! Also, fish oil and water is known to health give healthy looking nails. My mom also told me jello would help cuticles and stronger nails because of the stuff inside! I know it is going to be hard, but your nails will appreciate the chance to breathe and heal themselves!
