April Favorites ! ! !

made by polyvore.com

1. Bath & Body Works: Beautiful Day: So I wasn't planning on buying anything from bath & body works until one of the store workers asked me if I wanted to try their new scent of Beautiful Day and when she put that lotion on me....omg the smell was heavenly! It was like spring-y and flowery and sort of reminded of PINK by Victoria Secret for some odd reason. So being a shopaholic I am, I bought 3 body lotions because I have way too many body sprays...yet I have a lot of lotions too...oh well. It is such an amazing new smell that I promise you will love!

2. Infinity Scarf: Infinity Scarf are my new best friend to help dress up an outfit while keeping my neck warm from the bipolar weather I have here. I have a ton ranging from knits to chiffon print to patterned and they are very easy to put on without the worry of the scarf tassels being crooked or what not. Also, you don't need to waste time deciding if the necklace would look okay or what not.

3. The Carrie Diaries: I started this book way back last year (if you remember my post about this novel) well I never finished it and returned it. After starting watching the tv show on the CW, I encountered that book and its sequel, Summer and the City, at the library and instead of studying for my IB exam this week (FML) I started reading it again and omg by the time I left, I was half way through!!! I am in love and borrowed both novels because I can't wait! It such a teen chick lit.

4. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner : This eye liner was recommended to me by my sister and I was a bit skeptical at first because it was a bit pricey and I didn't know if it would live up to its name of staying all day because from past experiences my eyeliner usually ends up on my face and I look like a raccoon...However, I must say I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS EYELINER!!! It really does stay true to its name. It does not come off and is perfect for the perfect cat eye! Also, it comes off very easily with makeup removing wipes so you would become red from trying to rub it off.

5. Maybelline NewYork Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad, in Mocha Motion:  This quad is perfect for beginner makeup user or lazy people like me. This includes base eye shadow, lids and crease and even liner for that natural look and is perfect for those people who aren't into crazy colors and just want a good everyday wear eyeshadow. On the back it has easy step instructions to follow and is absolutely gorgeous!!

D.I.Y Body Scrub : Using 2 Ingredients

Made at polyvore.com

So with the change to spring from winter, our skin is changing to adjust to the changing environment. This D.I.Y beauty scrub is perfect if you want to save money and have soft, glowing skin using basic grocery items at your local grocery store.

The salt is used to condition your skin by acting as the scrub that will scrub your dead skin cells off your body, while the yogurt contain lactic acid will moisturize and ensure your skins a nice pick me up to feeling like soft babies bottoms!

Ingredients.
    - One container full of yogurt (any type will do, I used greek yogurt because that was in my fridge)
    - 1/2 cup of salt (any type of salt will do depending how rough you want to feel against your skin)
*note: you can add more salt depending how much you want to exfoliate.

Procedure.
    - Pour the 1/2 cup of salt into your yogurt container
    - Using either a spoon or your hands, mix the salt into the yogurt
    - Keep refrigerated until you want to use in your shower because the yogurt is still diary and will spoil if you don't chill it.

Throwback Thursday: How I got asked to Prom 2013

So for the first throwback thursday post, we aren't going back to my childhood but February 14th...Valentine's day....when I got asked to Prom.

I must say truthfully that I knew that this person, J, was going to ask me and I kinda got the hint that I was going to be asked on the 14th, but of course I was very appreciative that I got asked and was happy to go as friends with him to prom (though I don't know if he feels the same way) It was very creative and cute! So here you guys go!!!

I was asked the classic t-shirt way(: and I was given long stemmed roses and a teddy bear.
What happen was my friends first wanted me to come into the Chemistry room to help her with her "IA experiment" but when I did my friend said that we weren't ready and shut the door in my face. Then I went to my locker and lunch to toss a Valentine sucker I finished. I had two of my friends trailing me and asking me to come back to the Chemistry room which I did and he asked me which I was first embarrassed then happy because it was adorable. So, then right after my Chemistry teacher came in the room which was more embarrassing because they showed her the video of my prom proposal....welp that my mini story kiddies (: Enjoy the rest of your week :*

Elie Saab Inspired Prom Dress?!

The Elie Saab dress on the left and Taylor Swift wearing the dress to the Billboard Music Award on the right
Carson's prom dress that was inspired by Elie Saab's dress that was Taylor Swift at the Billboard Awards 2012

Recently, prom dress companies are making their prom dresses inspired by designers and the celebrities' dresses that they wear on the red carpet. While I was walking in Carson's yesterday, I came upon a Elie Saab inspired prom dress that Taylor Swift wore to the Billboard Awards 2013. Elie Saab is my favorite designer ever and I was ecstatic to see his dress as an inspiration for this prom dress. Link for the prom dress is here.

Minimize: My Daily "No-Makeup" Look

My daily "no-makeup" look
My daily "no-makeup" look consist of 2 steps: fill in the brows & conceal.

This is given that I also moisturize my face because you should be doing that everyday regardless whether your are wearing makeup or not. This "no-makeup" look for me is when I go to do errands like library returns, grocery shopping or chilling with my best friend D. Sometimes on rarest occasion when I do a full all nighter I pull this look off for school but fair warning it might take people by alarm because if you wear eye liner like me...it look like a shock. But this keep you looking fresh faced and younger as I been told numerous times.

Filling in your brows give them definition and make them pop and look more put together. Because if you have sparse eyebrows like me, a fresh look would look compete with filled in brows. For a more natural look I would go with powder such as brow powder or even eye shadow (something I use) and use an angled brush to follow the natural arch of your eye brow. Remember you are filling them in and defining them, not making them bolder or bigger because then you will look out of place with a clean face and new set of eyebrows. You can also use a pencil eyeliner but be careful since it will leave a harsh line so you would need a toothbrush to brush it out and blend it to blend in with your eyebrows.

Concealer also is a must since you need it to cover those dark circles and blemish because you don't people looking at you and compare you to those paparazzi photos of celebrity with no makeup with they purposely make them look hideous. Therefore, you want to look fresh and effortless with the no makeup and concealer does just that (: It is a girl's best friend because it can double up as foundation too if you wanted.

Mani Monday: Color block nails

forevergina.blogspot.com
forevergina.blogspot,com
So these nails is what I did in the spirit of spring even though it doesn't feel like spring right now. So it may seem complicated but trust me it isn't, it is just time consuming and takes a lot of patience.

1. I used the nail polishes shown at the bottom picture, but you can use any colored nail polish you feel would look good together in a color blocked format.
2. Then you can either use a tooth pick if you are feeling precise or just the brush and take each color and color block your nails!

Be creative and artistic as you want and make the blocks as small or as large as you want.

Everyday Things You can Do to Prevent Acne

this picture is from here
So we all hate acne, I know I do. We don't want to create more acne than we would naturally get so here are some everyday tips you can do to prevent the digesting little red spots from appearing on your face.

1. Sanitize your cell phone screen - This may be one of the secret major cause of acne because when you put your cheek to the phone screen to talk, the bacteria on the phone mixed with the bacteria you collect can collect onto your cheek hence growing acne! Wiping down your phone screen with antibacterial wipes at least once a week can prevent bacteria from collecting and cultivating on your phone screen and then transferring onto your pretty face in the form of a pimple.

2. Don't touch your face constantly especially if you also have pimples - Touching my face is one of the habits I have especially when I am really bored (okay I touch my eyelashes...it's weird I know) but touching your face when your hands aren't wash is really digesting because your hands touch many things that are not are clean and cleansed which can lead you to be indirectly transferring bacteria to your face. Also, if you have a pimple on your face, don't pick it hoping it will magically deflate and disappear. All you are doing is creating more pimples because you are opening the pimple and adding bacteria from your fingers. Just apply your acne medicated products or toothpaste and leave it!

3. Change out your pillow cases - Your pillow case is where you put your face on if you don't sleep flat on your back like me and therefore bacteria can come into contact with your face and is in contact for hours. Not changing out your pillow case is not only disgusting, but cumulates bacteria from anything from your face to the drool to leftover makeup you didn't take off. This leads to not only disgust but pimples.

4. Keep Hydrated with H20 and eat your berries - It is a golden rule in beauty that water will solve your problems and like 8 cups of water per day. Not only does it help your skin, but also your hair and weight. But you have to then limit those sugary drinks because something like soda can lead to acne and bad teeth. Water is something that is a must! Also, my berries are one of the fighters against acne because of the antioxidant it carries so eating more berries especially blackberries can help combat acne from appearing.

5. Wash your brushes - Brushes is another thing that comes into contact with your face every morning whether you are applying powder, eyeshadow, blush, etc. But not cleaning them will just accumulate bacteria from the product, the air, and your face and just give you acne. I recommend cleaning them once a week or if you a lazy like me, wash them once a month. If the brush starts to hurt, that means you need to wash them...asap.

6. Take off your makeup before sleeping - Leaving your makeup on your face and sleeping is a major no no. This will not only lead to bacteria build up and other funk because you are not letting your face breathe but instead constricting them with foundation and powder. Taking off your makeup and then washing/cleansing your face will not only leave your face fresh and breathable but also combat the acne preventing them appearing.
